PCT public health information
Roadtesting version
This is a restricted dataset to help public health teams to decide on priorities for PCTs. It is intended to bridge the gap caused by the delay in the Compendium of Clinical and Health Outcomes. Latest forecasts for the Compendium are July
These data have been calculated by two Public Health Observatories, Eastern and South East. Availability of data and time constraints have meant the available data are less ambitious than originally conceived Problems have been encountered in the mortality data, and these have been re-calculated for the South West by Jacq Clarkson in Somerset.
HEALTH WARNINGS
This is the original data ONS guidelines are to suppress anything where the numerator is less than 5, or where the denominator is less than 1000.
These figures will be slightly different from those which will eventually appear in the Compendium because they used the best data available at the time. Difference will be caused by:
minor changes in boundaries
use of 1998 ward populations. This may make a bigger difference, particularly where 2001 populations show a substantial decrease
Accidents and suicides are recent additions and have not been checked.
Numbers of events for bronchitis and emphysema are low, so although they are internally comparable, they will not align with other data sets.
Following ONS guidelines, numbers of events below five have been suppressed.
This will be available on a public website by the end of June, to allow for further checking. Inevitably in a project of this size, there may be errors. If you find something major please let me know
