A basket of local health indicators is being developed to complement national health inequalities targets already agreed.

Local Primary Care Trusts and partners will be carrying out health equity audits.
The Public Health Observatories and Health Development Agency want your help to find the best approach to developing the indicators. They also wish to share best practice on health equity audit and to help everyone frame their approach to their own local audits.

Information on health inequalities indicators is now available to help your discussions.  The consultation period runs from 21 January 2003 till 14 March 2003.

This work is supported by the Department of Health in preparation for the Government's Delivery Plan on tackling health inequalities.
