Information about these risk factors is generally unavailable locally on a routine basis. However, a number of local data sources exist that can usefully provide some of this information. These sources include the child health computer system (present universally) and data collected by the health visitors as a part of their caseload profiling (available in some parts of the region only). Figures 4 and 5 below are shown as examples of the type of data available and reflect the strong social class gradients in breast-feeding and smoking that are also seen nationally.
